The Finance Department at the University of Arizona, Eller College of Management invites qualified candidates to apply for a position as Visiting Assistant Professor, Finance (non-tenure-eligible) to begin August 2025 and continue through May 2026. The department is seeking candidates who are able to work with students and colleagues, and who have experience teaching undergraduate or graduate finance courses.
JOB DESCRIPTION: The faculty member will teach in-person courses at graduate and/or undergraduate levels and contribute to mentoring students. We strive for excellence in research and teaching; this is reflected by engagement in significant ongoing research and strong effectiveness in teaching. Our faculty’s research is published consistently in leading finance journals. The department’s instruction is also outstanding, with faculty members consistently winning university and national awards for their teaching. The faculty member will also participate in outreach and contribute to departmental, college, and university service. In these and other ways, the faculty member will help develop innovative approaches to enhancing student engagement and expanding collaborations with community and business partners.
The successful candidate is expected to:
- Attained a PhD in Finance or a related field from an AACSB accredited institution by the start date.
- Experience teaching university-level courses.
- Teach graduate and/or undergraduate courses.
- Maintain an active research program leading to publications in academic journals.
- Engage with students in the doctoral program.
- Maintain regularly scheduled office hours to be available to students.
- Contribute to the intellectual environment in the department through active engagement in research, teaching, and service.

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION: Finance is one of the most popular majors at the University of Arizona. In addition to a rigorous and integrated core curriculum taught by leading scholars, students in the finance major engage in a number of additional opportunities, including, the investments club and the Wall Street Scholars program. Moreover, finance students engage in experiential learning activities—including managing a “real” million-dollar portfolio (FIN 423/523), the CFA Institute Research Challenge, the Chicago Quantitative Alliance Competition, and the Venture Capital Investment Competition.
The department offers undergraduate programs in Finance (in-person and online), a Master’s in Finance program (in-person and online), and a highly competitive PhD program (in-person). The faculty also teach several required and elective courses in the Eller MBA program (full-time, evening, online, and executive platforms).
