The School of Management at the University of San Francisco invites applications for part-time adjunct faculty with expertise in tax accounting. Under the direction of the Dean and Associate Deans, and the MSA Program Director, the Adjunct Faculty Member will teach a graduate-level course in Tax Accounting in the M.S. in Accounting Degree program.
JOB DESCRIPTION: The course description is as follows:
This course delves into the complexities of tax liability determination within the context of financial planning. Students explore income taxation fundamentals, empowering students to make informed decisions aligned with personal or client goals. The course covers tax considerations in insurance, investments, benefit planning, intrafamily transactions, and business operations, the course emphasizes planning techniques like income exclusion, deferral, shifting, and strategic income management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Love of teaching students and enabling them to significantly enhance their tax accounting skills.
- Experience with Tax Accounting.
- CPAs preferred.
- Oral and written communication skills in the English language at a level that conveys information to and from students, colleagues, and others in an effective manner.
- Awareness of contemporary and critical concerns in the discipline; and
- Interpersonal orientation that encourages productive interactions with students and colleagues.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop syllabus and lesson plans that emphasize tax accounting and federal taxation.
- Creatively deliver courses to graduate students from around the world with deep expertise and a passion for elevating student skill sets and professional opportunities.
- Observe and evaluate student performance in meeting course objectives and student learning outcomes through assignments, projects, discussions, and/or examinations; provide feedback in a timely manner to student inquiries in class, online, or during established consultation office hours.
- Maintain current, accurate records of course enrollment, attendance, student academic progress, course curriculum, and student learning outcomes; prepare and submit data and reports related to course and student progress in a timely manner.
- Evaluate and select instructional materials such as textbooks, manuals, software, and tools in collaboration, as appropriate, with discipline full-time faculty; order instructional materials according to campus bookstore procedure to ensure timely delivery.
- Maintain student grades and other required records or reporting materials.
- Stay current on developments in the discipline by reading professional literature, talking with colleagues, and participating in professional workshops or conferences.
- Stay current on effective teaching methods via resources and training offered by USF's Center for Teaching Excellence.
- Hold weekly office hours (at least one hour for each course section taught) for the purpose of advising and assisting students.
- Advise and instruct students regarding lifelong learning resources and effective study skills; refer students to support services, programs, resources, and other professionals as appropriate.
