Andersen is seeking pre-doctoral research assistants to join its newly launched Andersen Institute for Economics and Finance.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Recruited pre-doctoral research assistants (pre-docs) are expected to assist PhD economists on a variety of research projects exploring the interconnections between major macroeconomic and microeconomic themes such as technological innovation and artificial intelligence (AI), climate change and decarbonization, geopolitics and fragmentation, rising levels of public debt and demographics, in a poly-crisis world with significant uncertainties.
Joining as a pre-doc offers a unique, research-intensive opportunity for high-research-potential individuals to come work with the Institute researchers. Successful candidates will learn about the academic research process by providing support to the Institute’s researchers in the form of data collection, management and analysis; coding; data and scientific result reporting and visualization. They will also receive mentoring and career guidance/direction? from the economists with whom they are working.
The pre-doctoral research assistant position is intended to be a two-year full-time program and is intended for candidates that plan to pursue doctoral studies in economics, finance, or related fields.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in economics, finance, statistics, math, data science, computer science, or a related field with demonstrated economics coursework
- Knowledge of economic, quantitative techniques, and data analysis
- Advanced knowledge and experience with programming in Stata, R, Python, MatLab, VBA, or others
- Demonstrated strong communication skills, initiative, integrity, and experience working both independently and collaboratively
- Demonstrated interest in pursuing graduate studies in economics, finance or related fields
