Description:
The Department of Finance at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) Lee Business School invites applications for two visiting positions: 1) Visiting Assistant Professor of Finance, 2) Visiting Assistant Professor of Insurance and Risk Management (IRM), for the upcoming academic year, starting in August 2026.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to effective teaching and preparing students for success in a multicultural business environment. The duties of these positions include:
• The Finance position will primarily teach finance courses. The IRM position will primarily teach IRM courses.
• Typical load: four courses per semester.
• Participating in research activities.
• Performing appropriate departmental and college service activities.

Requirements:
• A doctoral degree from an accredited university in related fields is required, but doctoral students who are at an advanced stage of their study, such as ABD, will be considered.
• Credentials must be obtained prior to the start of employment. ABD candidates are expected to be making strong progress towards completing their PhD. If at the start of this employment a doctoral degree is not obtained, the candidate will be hired at the rank of Visiting Lecturer.
• The candidates must be able to work legally in the United States. UNLV will sponsor H1B visa for qualified candidates.

About the Organization
College and Department Profile:
• Lee Business School, which is AACSB accredited, is home to approximately 85 faculty and 4,000 students, including 500 graduate students. The School offers nine bachelor’s degrees and seven master’s degrees.

The Department of Finance is experiencing tremendous growth. The Finance major has over 400 students in the major. The college recently received a significant endowment and established the Kerestesi Center for Insurance and Risk Management. A major in IRM started in Fall 2025 with tremendous momentum, and enrollment for Fall 2026 is expected to be over 100 students.

The Department has two student-managed investment funds. Historically, faculty in the department have published in JF, JFE, RFS, AER, JPE, MS, TAR, JFQA, FM, JCF, JBF, and other reputable journals. The research resources include the WRDS platform, CRSP, Compustat, ISS (RiskMetrics), ESG, ExecuComp, FactSet, and an active research seminar series.

The Lee Business School is AACSB-accredited and home to approximately 4,000 students, including 500 graduate students and 85 faculty members. The school offers five master’s degree programs, including a Master of Science in Quantitative Finance and an Executive MBA, and nine undergraduate degree programs. A Ph.D. program is scheduled to start in Fall 2027.
