As part of its growth strategy, the Department of Accounting and Management Control at ESSEC Business School invites applications for a faculty position in financial accounting at the Associate or Full Professor level. The position is based at the ESSEC Cergy Pontoise campus (Greater Paris area) and has a starting date of September 1, 2027, or upon agreement.
The Department places a strong emphasis on high-quality, high-impact research and excellence in teaching. Its faculty members publish in top-tier academic journals and its Ph.D. students are placed at top research institutions in Europe, North America, and Australia.
Skills/Requirements
• This position corresponds to an “Established Researcher” (i.e., stage R3) as defined by the European Framework for Research Careers.
• All candidates should have a strong and recognized publication record in top-tier accounting journals and are expected to continue to publish in these journals.
• All areas of accounting research are welcome.
• Candidates will be expected to play a leadership role in research and teaching development.
• In addition to research and teaching excellence, a successful record in supervising and placing Ph.D. students and a history of conducting research with junior faculty are highly desirable.
• The position will be filled at the appropriate rank depending on the profile and experience of the candidate.
• Proficiency in French is not required to apply but we appreciate candidates who have or are willing to acquire French language skills.

• Candidates should send a cover letter, a complete curriculum vitae outlining their publication and teaching experience, sample copies of their research, course evaluations, and names and contacts of three referees.

Selection process

• Some applications will be chosen for first-round interviews online.
• Among the first-round interviewees, some will be chosen for a second-round interview at ESSEC’s campus in Cergy, France, where the candidate will present one of their papers to ESSEC faculty.
• Candidates who have completed their second-round interview will be considered for the position.
