  • 详情 The Rise of Chinese Entrepreneurs in Canada: From Immigrant to Influencer
This study aims to examine the influence of Chinese immigrants on Canadian business culture and the role of Chinese business associations in shaping the Canadian business landscape. A qualitative research design was used to explore the topic, and semi-structured interviews were conducted as the primary method of data collection. 25 participants were selected for the study through purposive sampling, including Chinese immigrant business owners, employees of Chinese-owned businesses, and members of Chinese business associations in Canada. Thematic analysis was used to analyze the data collected through the interviews and identify patterns and themes that emerged from the participants’ responses. The study found that Chinese immigrants have had a significant influence on Canadian business culture and that Chinese business associations play an important role in promoting business cooperation between different cultural groups. The results also suggest that embracing cultural diversity in the business environment has both benefits and challenges, and businesses must effectively manage cultural diversity in the workplace to promote cooperation between different cultural groups. This study provides valuable insights into the ways in which Chinese immigrants have shaped the Canadian business landscape and the importance of embracing cultural diversity in the business environment. • 详情 The Inter-enterprise Relationship and Tade Credit
As the information asymmetry and credit rationing are existing, SME are difficult to gain bank credit. Trade credit, as one of substitution, gives another access to SME finance. Based on three years panel data (from 2007 to 2009) of 196 small and medium listed companies, this paper establishes the empirical models and examines the effects between inter-corporate relationship and trade credit. It finds that: the effects between inter-corporate relationship and trade credit seems like "U"; participate in the business associations, especially provincial associations, has positive impact to gain trade credit; good reputation also has positive impact to gain trade credit, but vulnerable to the macroeconomic. The conclusions of this paper are as follows: one corporate should keep proper relations with other corporates; pay attention to participating in the business associations, especially the provincial associations; even the macroeconomic's impact are very important, the corporate should also pay more attention to the repletion assets' maintenance.
  • 详情 Legal System, Financial Development, and Industry Clusters
Using Chinese data, we offer new evidence on industry clusters as a mechanism that may promote relational contracting and facilitate inter-firm financing when legal and financial systems are weak. In particular, we find that industry clusters lower firms’ dependence on courts and bank loans, and financing costs, and in turn improve firms’ profitability. While firms’ propensity of joining clusters increases with less efficient courts and less developed financial markets, industry clusters cannot completely mitigate the negative impact of deteriorated institutions. The impacts of industry clusters are significant even after controlling for the existence of other substitutive mechanisms such as business associations.
